Road safety research indicates that 80-95% of all vehicle crashes are related to human factors. Evidence indicates that as vehicle performance, design and intrinsic safety continue to improve it is typically driver behaviour that is the critical causative factor.
This poses a challenge for organizations as driving is typically a high frequency activity, being independent of others but very dependant on individual driver attitudes. The result in many organizations is the realization that they are struggling to adequately control the exposure of driving within their operations. Experience and research indicates the conducting of generic driver training in response to poor driving performance has at best limited impact.
SafeDrive International's integrated approach combines three vital elements that form the basis for their training program. This consists of:
ALIGNMENT (the development of a safe driving culture). This component targets General Managers, Site Managers and Key Line Managers where an understanding and agreement towards the road safety outcomes being sought is made with an agreed approach being defined. The end result sees detailed road safety responsibilities and performance measures being adopted.

LEADERSHIP (creating a vision with meaningful consequence management). This component targets Line Management and involves the SafeDrive Solution being presented based on the organizations defined road safety responsibilities and performance measures. The end result sees workplace ownership and commitment being achieved to work towards full implementation.
ROAD SAFETY SOLUTION (In Vehicle Monitoring Systems, Driver Training & Assessment and various Consulting Services) This component aims at providing a range of products and services, traditionally represented as follows:
IN VEHICLE MONITORING SYSTEMS (IVMS)/ VEHICLE DATA RECORDERS (VDR):
DRIVER TRAINING & ASSESSMENT:
CONSULTING SERVICES:
SDI acknowledges that most of its clientele welcome assistance in reviewing the road safety needs within their operations (i.e. a Gap Analysis). As such the team at SDI provides suitably skilled consultants who are able to provide this function to ensure all aspects are assessed with a detailed report based on findings and recommendations being submitted including a ‘road map’ recommending future road safety direction.
